The 2019 Presidential Elections of Boca Juniors club will be remembered for decades thanks to the Juan Román Riquelme masks. A tribute from a fan that became the greatest BTL campaign in the history of soccer club elections in Argentina.
In the days prior to the last home match before the Elections, I presented the project (idea, design and production) to Identidad Xeneize, the party for which Riquelme was candidate. Thousands of masks were given away to the fans to fill the stands with the image of the biggest club’s star.
The prohibition of the entry of the masks by the chairman (rival in the presidential race) only further enhanced the action that reached the status of a national scandal, being trending topic on every media and social networks.
On election day, the party headed by Jorge Amor Ameal, Mario Pergolini and Juan Román Riquelme was chosen with 52.84% of the votes, achieving historical record in Argentine soccer of 20,045 votes in total.
